If you're anything like me and are maybe more than a little camera shy, firstly, I just want to say you are in good company. Having a camera waved around in your face can be an unnerving experience, but I promise it doesn't have to be. Achieving candid shots of you and your love isn't as difficult as it sounds, so let's have a look at some of the things that can help decrease your anxiety levels and tailor your shoot to be a comfortable and relaxing experience.

1. Let's Talk

The first thing I like to do when onboarding a new couple is actually super simple, I call them up and we have a chat over Zoom. It might sound obvious, but having a conversation about how your day has been, how you and your significant other met, what your schedule is like and what kind of vibes you're after for your shoot, is the simplest and most personal way (besides meeting up in person) to get to know you. This is step one of our relationship and it is designed to put you at ease when we do meet in person :)

2. Being Prepared

Being prepared and having a good understanding of what we're capturing on shoot day is another important aspect of feeling comfortable relaxed when the camera comes out. I will always send you a preparation PDF outlining your shoot details, what we're capturing, what to wear, etc. More detail equals less stress!

3. Shoot Day!

Shoot day is finally here and your palms might be feeling a little sweaty, that's ok! You have the love of your life with you, a photographer who sincerely wants to capture you in the moment, some mood setting music and as much or as little direction as you need. I'll never let you wander around directionless or take photos if you look stressed, so the best thing you can do is easy, be yourself and be in the moment. And if it makes you feel any better, a lot of my couples say they forgot the camera was there! You got this!

Hopefully this post offered a few helpful hints about making sure you're comfortable and in the moment for your shoot! If you've still got questions, let's start a conversation at hello@amiebishayphoto.com.au or send me a DM on Insta!

Can't wait to catch up again soon 🤍
